Natural Living

Over the past year we have been slowly learning to homestead and have been growing our mini farm every chance we get.  We have a long way to go but everyday is a new learning experience and everyday we grow closer to a life of mostly natural living.

We started planting our fall gardens this weekend and although we just put a small dent in the overall plan, it feels good to get seeds in the ground and know that food will come soon.  We also added a few new members to our family.

We picked up a playhouse from a friend that will become a home to some bantams in the near future.  I haven't decided which breed yet but I want some type of  bantams to free range in what will be our largest fenced garden.  I'm choosing bantams for their size.  A small group free ranging in a relatively large garden will provide great fertilizer and bug control without causing any significant damage to plants.  Just think how great this will look with a new paint job and some chicken wire decor.

The thing I have learned most on this journey is that God provides an easy way to make it all happen.  It's all a ministry and reminder of how grand and gracious our creator is.  When we do things naturally and through prayer our bounty is grand and our days are filled with peace and pleasure.

Galatians 5:1 For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
